6 Reasons Not Smoking Could Significantly Improve Your Life

Smoking is probably one of the worst things that you could do to yourself, not to mention the people around you. I can’t blame you for trying to get in with the “cool” crowd, but you can’t even use that excuse anymore. When was the last time that was popular…..like the 50’s? If you haven’t gotten the memo since then, I’ll give you the update. Here are 6 reasons not smoking could significantly improve your life.

1 – Keep Your Wallet Fat, Not Your Belly

Depending on the state that you live in, you’ll end up paying somewhere between 5 bucks to almost 15 bucks for a packet of cigarettes. If you live in New York, you have a really expensive habit.

A two pack-a-day smoker would end up spending 30 dollars per day on that garbage. That’s almost $11,000 dollars per year!!!!

That’s some serious dedication right there. That person could buy a new car if they just saved their cig money for a whole year.

Costly

2 – Cardiovascular Health

Just 48 hours after you quit smoking the chances of having a heart attack go way down. Smoking places huge stress on the cardiovascular system, one reason being that it causes arteriosclerosis, which is the thickening and hardening of arteries. Your heart will have trouble pumping blood through that mess.

Better blood circulation improves the body’s ability to deliver nutrients to the body tissues. That may save you from complications in the kidneys, as well as the brain.

3 – Use Your Senses

Just a week after you quit smoking you might notice a heightened sense of taste and smell. The smoke impairs those senses in a lot of users. Maybe that’s why heavy smokers don’t notice that their whole body, car, and house wreaks of ash tray.

4 – Aesthetics

Not smoking will keep you looking younger than you normally would. This terrible habit causes wrinkles, yellow teeth and nails, and unhealthy hair. It basically ruins the whole integumentary system in the body.

5 – Cardiovascular Performance

I find it really funny when I see people taking a few drags before they make their way into the gym to get a quick pump. It’s actually really sad, but the irony gets me every time. Like, are you trying to be healthy or not?

Just in case you were wondering, working out doesn’t cancel out the effects of smoking. Sorry to kill the dream.

If you’re going to workout and play sports, why not go all the way with it and just get rid of the cigarette. Your excuse might be that it helps you manage your stress.

Well, working out is one of the most effective stress relievers out there. Take out your inner frustration at the bottom of the squat rack with a bar across your back. That will really take it out of you, trust me.

Not smoking allows your lungs to work efficiently. As soon as you stop smoking you’ll notice that your cardiovascular performance goes up. You’ll have way more fun in the gym and playing your sport.

6 – Cancer

Speaking of the lungs and their functionality…..if you keep up the habit you might find them not working at all.

As you might already know, lung cancer is the leading cause of death in smokers. Some people are already at a higher risk to begin with. It just runs in some family’s genes. Smoking just adds to that statistic.

The End

You can significantly improve your life by not smoking. In the end you’ll most likely even be saving your own life. This habit is no joke! I hope you liked this article.
