What is: Burpee

burpee

The burpee is a full body exercise that involves the chest, shoulders, core and legs. The objective is basically to go from a standing position, to the push-up position, and then jump in the air. All in the shortest amount of time possible. You can do burpees for a short period of time at a high intensity. For more cardio, you can also go for a longer period of time at a more moderate intensity level.

To perform the burpee start in the standing position. Your feet should be directly under your hips. Squat down and place your hands on the floor in front of you. Immediately shoot your legs behind you in order to get in the push-up position. Go down into a push-up and touch your chest to the ground. Bring your legs back under your body as fast as you can and then jump into the air. The jump should be max effort as you use your arms as momentum.
