What is: Glycolysis

glycolytic Energy System

Glycolysis is the breakdown of carbohydrates to restore the body’s ATP. The carbs can be glycogen stored in the muscles, or glucose delivered in the blood. The glycolytic energy pathway is the first thing the body uses to produce energy during aerobic exercise. After about 30 seconds of straight physical exertion your  body will be using fast glycolysis to restore its ATP for energy.
