Maximum Heart Rate is the maximum number of times your heart should beat per minute during exercise. Going past the maximum heart rate can be dangerous. While exercising you should get your heart rate up to between 60-80% of your max heart rate. The equation to calculate your approximate max heart rate is:

220 – (your age) = Max HR
