What is: Phosphogen Energy System

phosphogen energy system (ATP-PC)

The phosphogen energy system (also known as the ATP-PC system) is used during high energy explosive movements. This system provides energy for the first 10 seconds of a high intensity exercise. ATP stores are used in this system until they are depleted. This is an anaerobic energy system meaning that no oxygen is needed for its metabolic function. Exercises like short sprints and maximal effort lifts are powered by this energy system.
