What is: Risk Factors

risk factors

Risk factors who we are genetically, or what we do in our lifestyle that make us more prone to getting diseases. You can’t control genetic factors like your gender, age, or skin pigment. What you can control is the most important.

Lifestyle factors are what we chose to do on a daily basis that can give us a higher risk for disease. We have full control over these risk factors. Some common factors that increase chance of heart disease, for example, are:

  • lack of sleep
  • high stress
  • smoking
  • fried, fatty foods
  • overweight or obese
  • high blood pressure
  • diabetes
  • lack of exercise
