What is: Stroke Volume

stroke volume

The quantity of blood that is ejected with each beat of the heart is called the stroke volume. Individuals with a stronger and more efficient cardiac muscle will have higher stroke volumes. Fit athletes usually have higher stroke volumes. Because of that their resting heart rates are below average. Hearts with high stroke volumes are strong enough to pump enough blood to the body’s tissues with less beats.
