Wrist wraps are used during lifting, especially when the exercises place weight on the palms, or make the wrists bend back. An example of exercises that bend the wrists back are the clean and front squat. Many exercises like the bench press, shoulder press, and jerk all place pressure on the wrists. The wraps are usually elastic and hold in place via a velcro strap. The main purpose is the support and comfort of the wrists while training.
