Is It Possible To Get Bigger And Stronger Without Supplements?

Do you want to reach your fitness goals without spending a ton of money on supplements? Supplements can have wonderful benefits and help you reach your goals, but they won’t just do it for you. It is possible to get bigger and stronger without supplements. You have to train, eat, and rest correctly in order to do this. I used to be a supplement junkie. Now I only take 4 cheap supplements. These are the supplements that I take now:

Whey Protein

Whey protein is probably the most expensive supplement that I take, but you don’t have to buy the most expensive brand to get a descent quality.

Fish Oil

You can find this in almost any grocery store for 15$ or less depending on the size. It has positive effects on your cardiovascular system and mood.

Multivitamin

These are even cheaper than the fish oils, and can also be found in every grocery store. It contains micronutrients that your body needs to function. It can boost your metabolism, immune system and mood.

Caffeine

Many of you probably already drink coffee in the morning. It can give you the energy to get through a tough workout, or get motivated to start one. Drinking a cup of coffee is probably the cheapest way to get it.

When I was in high school I wanted to get big, strong, and ripped. I played basketball so I wanted to improve my game, and also look good. If I walked into a supplement store, there was no way I was leaving without spending 3 figures on supplements. It was nuts!!! I wish I could go back and tell myself that I didn’t need half that stuff. I would have saved a ton of money.

The problem with supplements is that they do such a good job of convincing everyone that they won’t be able to reach any kind of fitness goal without them. In reality, they are just supplements. They are supposed to SUPPLEMENT your training, diet, and rest. You can take all the supplements in the world, but if you don’t do anything else, you will be pretty unhappy with the results.

I don’t want it to seem like I’m against supplements. I’m all for it, only if you have the right mindset. When I was in college, I was so busy training, and playing basketball that I didn’t even have time to go make my supplement runs that I used to make in high school. At first I freaked out. I thought I was going to lose all my muscle and strength. I was surprised when the opposite happened. Since I didn’t have my supplements I started eating a ton of lean chicken and fish instead of taking protein supplements and fish oils. When I didn’t have a multivitamin I made sure I ate a lot of fruits and vegetables. When I started doing this, in combination with my training and rest habits, I gained 25 pounds of muscle over my 4 year college career.

To this day I still take the 4 supplements that I listed previously. I don’t use them consistently, only when I think my diet is really lacking. I can assure you that it is possible to get bigger and stronger without supplements. I did it by focussing on getting proper nutrition through real food, and so can you! If you are going to take supplements, just realize that they won’t do the work for you. To learn more about fat burning supplements go check out The Real Truth About Fat Burning Supplements.
